Session Summary
Obold was forced into a ritual duel against his father inside a circle of glowing green runes while his mother was held at knifepoint and half-goliath warriors watched in silence. After being struck down, he experienced a vision where multiple gods sought to claim him, but Baphomet restored him and empowered him to rise. Obold awakened, slew his father in a decisive smite, and freed his mother. The session ended with new alliances forming, an intercepted letter revealing the death of Zorath the Veilbinder, and a new path leading north toward the broken circle of druids.

The Duel of Blood and Gods
The Challenge
Obold and the party approached his father. He spoke of the mountain exhaling and his blood returning, declaring that his followers were not obedient—but focused. He challenged Obold to a one-on-one duel.
A glowing ring of glyphs erupted around them. Obold could not leave, and none could enter. The seiðr witches maintained the barrier.
His father asked whether they would fight with weapons or without. Zadaria begged to be unleashed.
Obold attempted to escape at first—Misty Stepping toward his mother—but the barrier stopped him. Realizing there was no way out, he committed to the duel.
Meanwhile, an Ugaonathi held Kaela with a knife to her throat, preventing the party from intervening. Any movement was met with the threat of her death.
The duel was brutal—natural 20s on both sides. Blow after blow was exchanged. Eventually, Obold succumbed and fell.
Obold’s Dream
As he dropped, Obold felt weightless.
He heard prayers in Elven. Whispers filled the air. Infinite white shafts erupted around him as endless webs stretched into the distance.
Lolth
The Spider God appeared. Zadaria stood beside her in drow form. Lolth beckoned Obold to kneel and promised to set Zadaria free.
Tyr
A golden glow tore through the webs, ripping them apart. Lolth retreated.
Tyr appeared with scales of judgment. Obold heard his mother urging him toward Tyr. Tyr told Obold he had stood when he could have fled and offered absolution.
Iuz
Chains and bones materialized. Iuz emerged, tempting Obold with power and demanding fealty.
Baphomet
Finally, Baphomet appeared, shunning the others. He told Obold he did not come to claim him, nor because he was owed him—but because Obold was deserving.
He urged Obold to reject the gods who sought to own him and instead rise and embrace power freely given.
He touched Obold’s chest.
At that same moment, Lois received an obsidian idol of Baphomet, manifested into her hands.
Awakening
As this unfolded, each party member felt their own deity’s presence:
-
A spinning coin for Alias
-
A circle of flowers for Gunther
-
A hammer for Kormak
-
A radiant stand for Thorin
Obold awoke—emboldened by Baphomet.
He rose and, in a devastating surge of divine smite, severed his father’s leg before decapitating him.
The duel was over.
Aftermath at the Docks
When the barrier fell and reality settled, two unfamiliar ships had arrived bearing the flags of the Moonshae Isles:
-
A large galley
-
A sleek black vessel
Xanaphia stood waiting on the dock with members of her crew—and the Betrayer King.
The Betrayer King — Ardyn Maelwyn ap Rhodri
Polished armor. Ceremonial blade. Dark hair prematurely streaked with gray. Clean-shaven, regal, restrained. A diagonal scar across his lips. The youngest of the four kings. A master tactician known for throwing daggers.
He praised the party, saying they were more capable than he anticipated. He expressed gratitude for:
-
Removing the Archbishop
-
Freeing the orc encampment
He pledged assistance—but carefully. He does not want it known in Oman that he supports the party, as he wishes to avoid open war. He suggests Oman as a possible starting point, though warns it is strong.
The flag of Gwenyth: light blue with a royal blue wave.
He provides the party provisions for their journey.
Alias asks about establishing a home base. The King and Callista are open to discussing possibilities.
Obold asks the King to care for his mother.
The King agrees. He will escort Kaela—who is from Norland, a Nordic region—back home, provide her with clothes and wares, and take her under his protection.
The Other Table
Also present:
-
A bald human man with ritual scars on scalp and neck, immaculate coat, hands folded—carefully measuring the room.
-
A half-elf woman cloaked in charcoal silks, silver-blonde short hair, perceptive, armed with a thin blended stiletto.
-
A gray ash-skinned tiefling with shortened, broken horns—young, calculating exits and angles.
-
A dark purple tiefling woman in tailored black leather with silver chains—Zynaphia. Sent by Scalius.
The Intercepted Message
Zynaphia reveals the Dark Daggers intercepted a carrier pigeon message written by Sylphine, the Whispering Gale.
Below is the full letter:
Letter from Sylphine
Penned upon a High Current, where clouds part and rejoin—
To Emberle, Flame-Bearer and Warden of the Burning Way,
When I arrived at the Crossroads of the Four Pillars, the winds found you already there—your fire standing defiant against the open sky. Torrain soon followed, the air heavy with the promise of rain. The three of us waited together, currents circling, tides listening, flame flickering in patience. Only one presence failed to arrive. The earth did not answer.
Zorath’s place remained empty.
At first, I believed it delay—stone is never hurried. Yet the winds grew uneasy, looping again and again where his weight should have steadied them. Whispers gathered. Ash drifted where no flame had burned. By the time the sun leaned westward, the truth had already reached us, carried on a broken current: Zorath the Veilbinder is dead.
With his fall, his portion of the map has scattered like dust caught in a sudden gale. The earth held a piece we now lack, and without it the Promised Land shifts farther from reach, its outline blurring like clouds torn apart at altitude.
Worse still, the final fragment you first warned us of—the one that binds all four—remains unfound. Without Zorath, our circle is no longer whole. The winds may carry messages, even secrets, but they cannot replace what was rooted.
I fear this was no accident of wandering fate. Something has learned how to shear the stillness from the world and let it drift away.
We must move swiftly. I will scour the upper passes and forgotten skyways for any lingering trace of Zorath’s workings—sometimes the wind remembers what the stone forgets.
Until then, tend the flame, but do not let it burn alone. A fire without air is only waiting to die.
— Sylphine, the Whispering Gale
She Who Walks Where Nothing Stays
The Four Druids
-
Sylphine — Air druid (castle moves, flies on the wind; northern Icewind region)
-
Emberle — Flame-Bearer (fire druid)
-
Torrain — Tide-born druid
-
Zorath — Earth druid (dead; held a map fragment)
Without Zorath, the circle is incomplete.
The Furbolg also search for the Promised Land—just as these powerful druids were.
Bringers of Zion
Zynaphia’s ship: Black Marrow.
She claims to have a lead on Sylphine’s location in the northern Icewind region, where her ever-moving airborne castle travels the skyways.
Celebration
With Obold alive, his father defeated, Kaela safe, alliances forming, and divine forces stirred, the party celebrates.
Wine and beer flow.
The path now leads north—to wind, sky, and a broken circle.
Log
**For Kayla!!!
We are about to battle Obold’s Dad!!!!!’
Obold and his father spoke before something compelled him to walk into a glowing ring of glyphs, which we cannot enter and Obold cannot leave. An ugaonathi is holding Kayla with a knife to her throat keeps us from moving or doing anything to intervene. After a crazy fight, natural 20s on both sides, Obold is defeated by his father and goes into a dream sequence hearing voices of people in his life: his mother, father, Zadaria, and Lois. He sees Spider god and the drow form of Zadaria standing next to it. She attempts to make Ibold kneel before something else makes him flee, it is Tyr. Both offer him life after death. Then Iuze comes to do the same. Before Lois’s prayers are answered and Baphomet emerges freeing him from the others, breathing life back into him. Obold gets up and slices his fathers leg off with a smite before decapitating him. As we return we find two ships other than ours displaying the flags of the monnshae isles, one large galley and one sleek black. Xanaphia is waiting on the dock with some of her crew along with the betrayer king. He tells us how badass we are and that he and Callsita wil help us in whatever way he can but he doesn’t want it know that he supports us in Oman as he doesn’t want war.
Xanaphia says the dark daggers captured a pigeon with a letter sent by one of the four druids, where they met up and the veilbinder didn’t show, they figured out he was killed. Celphine the whispering gale wrote
Obold and the party approach his father. His father gives a monologue about the mountain exhaling and his blood returning. He says his followers are not obediant, but focused. He then challanges obold to a 1v1. Obold tries to buy time by giving his own speech, but he fails to resist the pull of the duel. His father asks if he should do weapons or no weapons, and zdaria begs to be unleashed. His father begins to attack him, obold at first tries to evade the duel and misty step to his mother, but the barrier put up by the siedr witches stops him from leaving the circle. Obold, then relents to the fight and begins exchanging blows with his father. Teh party tries to make moves to save Kaela, but the Uganathi members hold a knife to her neck and threaten to kill her if they make moves. The fight drags on and obold succumbs to the blows of his father. As he falls, he has a vision in his unconscious state.
Obolds Dream:
Obolds feels weightless after dropping to the ground. As he sits there, he hears prayers in elven, and whispers in the air, as infinite shafts of entangling white erupt around him. Endless webs extend into the distance, as lollth appears before him. Beckoning him to “kneel” and she will set zydaria free. Suddenly a golden glow appears, ripping apart the webs. Lollth retreats as tier approaches, with scales. Obolds hears his mother asking him to go to tier, and tier says to obold that he stood when he could have fled, and he would be absolved of his actions. Suddenly, chains and bones appear, as Iuz appears as well. Enticing obold with power, asking for him to pledge his fielty to him. Lastly, Baphomet appears, shunning the rest of the gods, and tells obold that he is here not because he owns obold, or because he is required to, but because obold is deserving of power, and tells him to rid the other deity who only want something of obold, but to instead rise and embrace the power he bestows upon him. He then touches obolds chest, and he awakens.
As this was happening the party each feels the presence of their own deity, a spinning coin for alias, a circle of flowers for gunther, a hammer for kormak, a radiant stand for thorin,

Alias asks what they have, and they say they shouldn't speak in front of the Betrayer king. King ardyn maelwyn ap rhodri stands and says it's fine to speak in the open. He invites us to sit and asks us about what happened. He commends us, saying we were more capable than he thought. He says that he is forever grateful to us for removing the arch bishop, and for our work on freeing the orc encampment. He extends his help without declaring outright war. He says we could start with oman, but it is strong.
